BLOW DRYER WAVES
Excuse my blurry face... that's not the point of this post. We are always looking for new ways to create waves in our hair. Wavy hair seems to solve many of my hair problems. There are many techniques to put waves in your hair and they all have results that are a little different. This technique is good if you are going to have to dry your hair anyways and it is super easy. Pretty hard to mess it up!
Start with almost dry hair. You can let your hair air dry or just use a blow dryer and stop right before your hair is completely dry. Your hair could actually stand to be even more dry than mine is in the picture. Run mousse, or curl spray or hair spray or any "holding" agent through your hair. Just use a little.... you want your waves to be soft still.
Take a section of your hair and twist it away from your face. Start at the top and work your way down. Run a blow dryer across the twisted strand from root to tip. Do this until the strand is pretty much dry. Repeat the same process on the rest of your hair.
Once you've twisted all of your hair, spray each piece with hair spray. Don't loosen the twists until you've sprayed them with hairspray and they've dried. Once all of your hair is dry you can gently shake out the twists and your hair should have pretty little soft waves.
Trying to show better detail here but you get the point. My bangs are out of control.
I just realized that it has been FOREVER since we've done a hair tutorial. Hopefully we can do some more in the near future.

20 Of The Best Hair Tips You’ll Ever Read
Our hair is one of our most valuable accessories! It can completely change your appearance. It goes with us everywhere, and let’s be honest, it can be quite the hassle sometimes, but with a few hair tips and tricks up your sleeve, you can make your hair routine faster and easier while still getting the look you’re going for.
I think for the most part, we all want what we don’t have. I have the thickest hair on the planet (my ponytail looks like a horsetail), and I’ve always wished I could just have flat hair that behaved itself. But, as I’m getting older, I’m starting to appreciate my mess of a mane. I actually kind of like my huge hair now! It’s really all about making the best out of what you have. Here are a few of my favorite tips that make my hair routine just a little bit easier.

Misuse of Dry Shampoo
I feel like dry shampoo is now the 8th wonder of the world! The idea of putting powder in a can to absorb oil is just plain genius. It’s torture having to wash, dry, and style your hair every day, and dry shampoo has saved many of us countless hours under the heat of our hair dryer.
The first time I used dry shampoo, I was a little disappointed, only to find out that I was just doing it wrong. My biggest blunder was not waiting for it to absorb. Now I spray it on and let it sit in my hair while I do my makeup, and by the time I’m finished, my hair looks better than it did after being freshly washed the day before.
Here are a few things you may not realize your doing wrong with your dry shampoo, and how to fix them! Every girl should be able to take advantage of this miracle in a bottle.

Textured Summer Braid
It's really warming up here in the Midwest, and you know what that means—friends and swimming and BBQs and... frizzy hair. Honestly, if it weren't for braids and buns, my hair wouldn't stand a chance in the summer. I would definitely have to chop it before we made it to the cooler fall months. It's not an issue, though, because there are LOTS of braids to choose from! Here's a fun one I like to use to switch things up a little.
Step One: Divide your hair into three sections, as if you were going to do a normal braid. Braid the center strand and secure with an elastic.
Step Two: To begin your braid, cross the two side pieces over the middle section.
Step Three: Finish out the braid just like a standard braid.
Step Four: Once you reach the bottom, secure with an elastic and remove the first elastic.
Step Five: Finish your braid off with a pretty piece of fabric or ribbon, and you're all done!
As you can see from some of the photos above, my hair gets pretty dry in the summer, so it's nice to be able to run some coconut oil through my hair and throw it in a braid for some much needed conditioning.

How To : Simple Dutch Braid
Growing up, we always called the "dutch braid" an inside-out french braid. I didn't know there was another name for it, so when someone asked me if I knew how to dutch braid, my answer was a pretty quick "uhhh... I don't think so". Once I did a little research, I found out that they are one and the same.
If you know how to french braid, this tutorial is easy peasy. Basically, you are just reversing the direction of the braid. If you aren't quite as experienced in the french braid department, that's okay! I've broken down the dutch braid steps and hopefully very soon you will be braiding like a pro!
Step 1: Divide hair at the top of your head into three sections.
Step 2: You will begin braiding, but instead of crossing your strands OVER the middle piece, you will be crossing UNDER.
Step 3-4: After you have crossed under twice, take a section of hair from the side and add into one of your strands. You will cross this section of hair UNDER the middle strand.
Step 5-6: Repeat on the next side, making sure to be consistent and continue crossing under the middle strand every time.
Step 7: Continue braiding down.
Step 8: Once you reach the base of the neck, keep braiding until you reach the bottom.
Step 9: (optional) Twist the bottom of the braid around itself into a bun and pin into place.

How to : A Bow Braid
I love this look on Laura's hair. Hair her is very sleek and straight, so I left her bows a little messy and undone to add texture. This would also be a cute style in the front hairline for gals with no bangs! If you would like smoother bows, I suggest using hair wax. If you are unsure of where to start with the french braid,
Step 1: Create a french braid anywhere you'd like.
Step 2: Gather a section of hair just behind the braid and spritz with water. This step really helps to create the bows!
Step 3: Stick the top of your hairpin through a section of the braid.
Step 4: Take a very small section of hair and create a loop. Thread the loop through the hairpin.
Step 5: Grab the hair loop and gently pull the hairpin down, tugging the hair loop and the hairpin as you pull. Step 6: Repeat as many times as you'd like! Any remaining tails should be tucked behind the bow underneath.

How to : A Chain Braid Style
We are all completely in love with Emma's new blunt cut! As soon as I laid eyes on it I knew it would be perfect to try out some new hairstyles. The first style I chose was a chain braid, because it's great for her particular length. Gals with longer hair, this will work for you too!
Step 1: Divide a section of hair in half and tie in a knot.
Step 2: Pick up a smaller section of hair on either side of the knot and add it to your strands (just as you would in a french braid).
Step 3-4: Tie in a knot again. Each time you tie a knot, add a small section of hair to each strand before you tie another. Continue tying and adding until you reach just behind the ear.
Step 5: Pin the chain braid in place with bobby pins.
Step 6: Create a pigtail, incorporating the braid. Pin into a bun and repeat all the steps on the other side of your head!

Tips For Cutting Your Own Bangs ( at Home ) !
Hi, everyone. As a professional hairstylist, I often get asked about trimming your bangs at home. My short answer is always, “Don’t.” But my long answer is, “Okay, if you absolutely MUST trim your bangs at home, here are the things you have to do..."
Get hair-cutting scissors. DO NOT CUT YOUR BANGS WITH KITCHEN SCISSORS. I will repeat that in case you weren’t listening the first time. DO NOT CUT YOUR BANGS WITH KITCHEN SCISSORS. You can get some good scissors for about 20 dollars at Sally Beauty or Ulta. If you’re trimming your bangs at home, this is worth the investment. Also, buy a comb! Don’t try and just use a brush or whatever you have lying around. A regular comb.
Cut your bangs when they are clean and dry.
Hold the scissors with one loop on your ring finger and one loop on your thumb. This will give you the most control by allowing your thumb to do the work. This may take a little practice to get it to feel natural; that's okay.
Always cut into your bangs vertically, never horizontally. You want to take little bites with the scissors and work your way across. I like to use my comb to hold the hair without any tension. Again, never cut horizontally; this is the fastest way to end up with super short, crooked bangs.
Remember, it's always best to use your favorite pro hairstylist. But in a pinch and with some practice, you can have success giving your own bangs a trim at home now and again. Good luck! xo.

The Ultimate Fishtail Braid Tutorial
We can safely say that the fishtail braid or plait is a Beautylish favorite. Whether perfectly neat or purposely messy, the texture and seemingly complicated pattern of this sea-inspired style provide a refreshing visual twist on your typical 3-strand weave. We're here to bring you even better news: This 2-strand braid is the simplest of them all! The fun doesn't stop with a single plait, and it's easy to experiment with multiple braids, styles, and accessories. But before you go braid-crazy on your locks, you've got to learn the basics. Turn your hair into high-fashion form—once you've mastered our fishtail fundamentals. Here's an easy fishtail braid tutorial to get started:
STEP 1
Brush & Section
Detangle and brush out your hair so it's easy to handle. If you need to, smooth out flyaways and frizz with a grooming cream. You don't have to have stick straight locks to rock this look, just keep things knot-free! Divide the hair into two even sections starting from the middle of the scalp.
STEP 2 + 3
Weave From The Right
You can begin braiding from either side, but we're starting from the right. Use your pinky and ring finger to grab a small section of the hair (approximately 1/4" inch) from the back of the right side. Add this section to the left side by folding it over with your left hand.
STEP 4 + 5
Weave From The Left
After you've added a strand to your left side, take your left pinky and grab a 1/4" strand from the back of the left section. Fold it over and add it to your right section. Make sure these first few strands are tighter so you get comfortable with the process and nothing falls loose.
STEP 6
Continue Weaving and FInish Up
Continue weaving strands from the left and right. You're going to be weaving more or less depending on the thickness of your strands. But trust us—the fishtail effect looks so much better when you weave thinner pieces instead of thicker. It make take longer, but it's worth it!
Once you're at a comfortable place to end your braid, secure it with an elastic band or a clip. If you feel like your braid is too tight, loosen it by gently massaging the strands with your hands. Grab both hands simultaneously and gently pull away from the braid. This technique gives the braid that casual and effortless look.

Spring into the Season with This Flower Hair Bun
You don't need to use fake flowers to get your hair ready for spring! This flower hair bun is an easy, adorable way to sport the floral motif even if there aren't flowers on the ground yet.
Spring is fast approaching. And before long, everything will be in bloom, even your hair! This beautiful flower hair bun is the perfect look for the upcoming season. Plus, it's pretty, wearable, and easy to do. Before you get started, I recommend doing this hairstyle with some curls or waves in your hair. It's a great hairstyle for second-day curls. Just follow these easy steps:
1. Pull your hair into two low, loose ponytails. Use small elastics the same color as your hair or clear ones.
2. Braid one ponytail into a normal three-strand braid.
3. Pull on the outer side of the braid to create volume on one side. This will be the petals of the flower.
4. Now braid the other ponytail, and pull on the outer side of the braid — the opposite side of the previous braid.
5. Take the first braid, and roll it into a bun at the nape of the neck and in the middle of the head. The side you pulled on to create volume should be on the outer edge. Pin in place.
6. Take the other braid, and roll it around the first one. The pulled-out side of the braid should, again, be on the outer edge. Pin in place.
